AFL fans welcome day Grand Final return

AFL FANS ASSOCIATION (AFLFA): “GIVING FOOTY FANS A VOICE”

Fans have welcomed the AFL Grand Final returning to its 2.30 pm day slot.

The AFL website is reporting that club presidents have been told the game will be played at the MCG at 2.30 pm on Saturday, 25 September.

AFL Fans Association president Cheryl Critchley says this is great news for fans as a majority have consistently backed the day slot when polled.

“Our polls, media polls and the AFL’s own polls have consistently shown that most fans prefer a day Grand Final,” Cheryl says.

“They love the lead-up, the day-time barbecues, the atmosphere for those attending and the fact that families can celebrate together afterwards.

“Fans accepted the AFL’s decision to hold the 2020 Grand Final at night given the COVID-compromised season, but most still prefer it to be played during the day.

“We thank the AFL for listening to fans and ensuring that this popular tradition will continue, COVID-permitting.”

AFLFA membership is free, and fans are encouraged to join at www.aflfans.org.au.
